CHECK OUT WHAT WE DO...

SECONDARY SCHOOL PROJECT

WHAT?

Wearside Youth for Christ seeks to work in the local secondary schools of Sunderland helping them gain a better understanding of what Christians believe and why and how it affects their lives.

WHY?

According to Scripture Union, 95% of children in the UK don't attend Church. We passionately believe that this must change.

HOW?

Through the delivery of assemblies, RE/Personal Development lessons and lunch time clubs, the team seek to communicate the Gospel relevantly to young people in a number of schools across the city.

SCHOOL FRIENDS PROJECT

WHAT?

The School Friends Project aims to spend time on that school yard during lunch times to provide support and friendship and a positive presence every week. We currently work in Thornhill school every Tuesday from 12.40pm.

WHY?

Many young people in school today can really struggle socially and feel isolated, especially during lunch times.

HOW?

If you are a good listener and care about young people and have an hour spare each week perhaps you could become a school friend.

AMERICAN MISSION TEAM

WHAT?

Bringing teams of American students over to work alongside local churches for a week at a time helping to deliver mission and outreach to the local community.

WHY?

Seeking to resource the local church for mission. Developing a culture of mission and outreach. The church in Sunderland needs people.

HOW?

Teams can deliver sports clubs like Camp of Champions, schools work and service projects in the community. You can be involved by hosting a team in your church and community for a week.

GAP YEAR PROGRAMME

WHAT?

Working in schools and alongside local churches taking assemblies, RE lessons and clubs, youth clubs and drop in's and Sunday schools.

WHY?

To give local young people the opportunity to serve locally instead of moving away, helping them to grow in their faith through serving in local schools and for them to explore what God might be calling them to do.

HOW?

Perhaps you are a young person (18-25yrs) looking ahead to the future or a church looking for someone to help support current work. If so, please get in touch.

REVOLUTION EVENTS

WHAT?

Revolution Events are amazing opportunities for young people and youth groups from the Sunderland area to come together and worship God.

WHY?

We passionately believe that we were created to worship and we want to help cultivate an attitude of worship and fellowship amongst young people.

HOW?

Three times a year we will help facilitate a worship event for young people and create other social events to bring young people together.
